Yen Bai supported in upgrading health care system

A working team from the Atlantic Philanthropies (AP) in Vietnam – an organisation supporting people in accessing health care services – toured the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai to inspect the first phase of a project upgrading the local health care system.

The organisation also plans to sign a memorandum of understanding withYen Bai on the implementation of the second phase of the project, whichwill run from 2014 to 2016.

Launched in August2012, the project has proved its efficiency in raising the quality ofhealth care services in the locality.

To date, 33new health clinics have been built at a cost of 5 million USD, half ofwhich is non-refundable aid from the AP.

As ofDecember 2013, construction of 17 stations had been completed with fullequipment valued at 7.2 billion VND (338,400 USD).

According to Ta Van Long, Standing Vice Chairman of the Yen Bai People’sCommittee, the province will create all possible conditions for theimplementation of the project in its second phase.

It will speed up human resources training following project demand,while supervising contractors to ensure the progress is made onschedule.-VNA
