Hanoi (VNA) ❀– The first session of the 14th National Assembly Standing Committee opened on July 22, presided by NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed and agreed on the candidates to submit to the NA for the election of the President, the Chairman of the NA's Council for Ethnic Affairs, the heads of NA committees, the NA General Secretary, and the State Auditor General.
The deputies also discussed and approved the lists of deputy heads and members of the NA’s Council for Ethnic Affairs and NA committees, as well as the head of departments under the NA Standing Committee.
The Committee discussed and agreed on a draft Resolution on the draft agenda on NA’s supervision activities, along with a draft programme on building laws and ordinances in 2017 and amendments to the law building programme for 2016.-VNA
Leading positions of the 14th National Assembly were named on July 22 during the legislative body’s first session following the secret ballot conducted one day earlier.
The majority of deputies at the 14th National Assembly have shown their strong confidence in newly-elected NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, who won the July 22 election with 98 percent of votes.
Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the CPV, President Cuong said, the press has been a steadfast force on the ideological and cultural front, rallying the masses to pursue national aspirations.
