14th National Assembly contributes greatly to national success
A draft report on the work of the 14th National Assembly was at the centre of attention at the NA Standing Committee’s meeting on March 15, which highlighted the contribution of the legislature to the overall success of the country in the past tenure.

Hanoi (VNA) ꦑ– A draft report on the work of the 14th National Assembly was at the centre of attention at the NA Standing Committee’smeeting on March 15, which highlighted the contribution of the legislature to the overall success of the country in the past tenure.
Thedraft report, presented by the NA Secretary General and Chief of the NA OfficeNguyen Hanh Phuc, said the 14th legislature has inherited experiencefrom previous tenures to perform well in the past five-year tenure amidst greatchanges in the situation in the world and the region, while the country’sposition and strength have greatly enhanced after 35 years of Doi Moi(renewal).
The NA has promoted and improved the quality of law-making work,creating a synchronous legal foundation for the rapid and sustainabledevelopment of the country, the people’s well being, national independence, sovereignty andsecurity, and international integration.
꧋ In the past 10 sessions during the tenure, the NA adopted 72laws, two ordinances and various resolutions containing legal norms. Many lawsare the first in the related fields, which have great, comprehensive and deepeffects on socio-economic life and demand of reality. Many resolutions borebreakthrough significance, creating the needed legal corridor for reforming theorganization of apparatus, stimulating socio-economic development and addressingshortcomings and obstacles.
Besides, many international trade agreements, conventions andagreements have been ratified by the NA, contributing to completing the legalframework for international integration while ensuring national interests.
During the 14th tenure, the legislature’s supervisionwork received due attention, producing higher effectiveness that was appreciatedby voters and the public.
♒ The 14th NA also made many important decisions onmajor policies with great impacts on national socio-economic life and developmentin mountainous and ethnic minority areas.
External relations of the NA also contributed greatly to thesuccess of external affairs of the Party and the State, helping maintain apeaceful and stable environment for national construction, defence anddevelopment and elevate the country’s position in the international arena.
The draft report also noted that the 14th NA had asuitable model of organization and continuously reformed its operationalmethods, while ensuring the Party’s leadership and close bonds with voters aswell as effective coordination with other agencies, which are factors helpingit leave behind deep imprints.
☂ Participants of the committee agreed that the 14th tenure was a success, with missions assigned by the Party, voters and people excellentlycompleted, contributing to the overall success of the country.
Also at the meeting, a draft report on the NA Standing Committee’swork in the 14th tenure and preparations for the NA’s 11th session were tabled for discussions. The 11th session is slated toopen on March 24 and end on April 8./.

Resolution 1185/NQ-UBTVQH14 by the National Assembly’s Standing Committee dated January 11, 2021 adopted the expected number, structure and composition of the 15th National Assembly deputies.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
