The decision was made at a recent meeting of the Government standingmembers in Hanoi , with the fund sourced from the Support Programmeto Respond to Climate Change (SP-RCC).
The money will be spent on mangrove afforestation and sea dyke construction in coastal areas.
The Government leader asked the Ministries of Natural Resources andEnvironment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Planning and Investment,and Finance, to review the scale of and capital allocation for theprojects.
Relevant reports will be submitted to thePrime Minister before September 30 and then to the National Assembly forincluding the sum in the 2015 state budget estimates.
The PM noted that the disbursement is underway only when proceduresfor the projects are completed in line with legal regulations.
Launched in Vietnam in 2009, the one-billion-USD SP-RCC is beingsupported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), theFrench Development Agency (AFD), the Australian Government, the CanadianInternational Development Agency (CIDA), the World Bank, and theRepublic of Korea’s Eximbank.-VNA
