Singapore (VNA) — The ASEANFootball Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup kicked off on December 5 with animpressive opening ceremony with theattendance of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, which shows theSoutheast Asian tournament has received more attention from the world.
Afterthe opening ceremony was the match between Singapore and Myanmar.
The host team of Singapore entered the game excitedly and created many situations to threat the opponents' net. They got the first goal in the34th minute by Safuwan, followed by a double from Ikhsan Fandi in the 39th and 45th minute, and ended the match thumping Myanmar 3-0.
Earlier, theThai team had to work very hard to defeat a weaker opponent, Timo Leste inGroup A. The absence of key players like Chanathip and Theerathon made Thailandappear to be in a deadlock, despite controlling the game.
▨ Inthe second half, the deadlock was eased, when Pathompon Charoenrattanapiromscored the first goal. An another goal at the end of the match from Supachok Sarachatcompleted the 2-0 win for Thailand. Although they have three points but it isclear that Thailand’s players need a lot of improvement if they want to havegood results in this year’s tournament./.
Vietnam have been placed in Group B of the Suzuki Cup ASEAN Football Federation after a draw that took place virtually on September 21, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
