Airports serve 94 million passengers in 2017

Airports across Vietnam served about 94 million passengers and handled an estimated 1.34 million tonnes of freight last year, up 16 percent and 19 percent, respectively, from 2016, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAA).

Hanoi (VNA) – Airports across Vietnam served about94 million passengers and handled an estimated 1.34 million tonnes of freightlast year, up 16 percent and 19 percent, respectively, from 2016, according tothe Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAA).

The CAA reported over 7.8 million passengers passedthrough the airports in January, a year-on-year increase of 4.3 percent while Vietnameseairlines carried 3.7 million passengers, up 5.2 percent year on year.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation handledmore than 34,400 flight arrivals and departures and over 34,600 transitflights.

Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines owns thelargest fleet of 92 aircrafts, including 10 Airbus A350 and 11 Boeing B787,followed by Vietjet Air with 51 aircrafts and Jetstar Pacific with 19 planes.

Vietnam currently registers 28 helicopters by January15.-VNA
