Another Vietnamese player joins AFC’s campaign against COVID-19

Vietnam’s national striker Nguyen Cong Phuong is one of the latest three players taking part in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s #BreakTheChain campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’snational striker Nguyen Cong Phuong is one of the latest three players takingpart in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s #BreakTheChain campaignagainst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two other players are SeyedJalal Hosseini from Iran and Sameh Maraabeh of Palestine.

“If we all decide toself-quarantine and stay at home for a while, we can break the chain and livetogether for a long time,” said Hosseini.

Maraabeh also advised everyone,especially players, to stay at home and keep training. He hoped everyone willget well soon.

Phuong is the second Vietnameseplayer to appear in the AFC’s campaign, which continues to receive strongsupport from hundreds of players and officials. 

“If there was ever a time inour history to display unity and resilience, the time is now. All of us are inthis together and we need to show respect, compassion and kindness to one anotherby doing our part to follow the rules of the health authorities,” he was quotedas saying on the AFC’s website.

“I want to thank the AFC forgiving me this opportunity to share my support and I encourage everyone toplease break the chain. We are constantly reminded of the strength of ourmedical professionals and to all our frontline workers, we salute your bravery.

“Let’s stay strong and remainunited in this fight against the COVID-19 outbreak by taking all preventivemeasures,” he said.

In the AFC’s latest#BreakTheChain clip, the talented forward said: “Say ‘no’ to fake news. Do notlike or share the fake news which causes confusion to the community.”

Earlier, Vietnamesemidfielder NguyenQuang Hai also joined other continental footballers in the campaignto raise public awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the AFC’sclip, Hai said: “Everyone should avoid gathering in crowded places, wear masksand wash your hands regularly to protect yourself.”
With the #BreakTheChain campaign attracting millions ofinteractions with people globally, it is hoped that the push will serve topopularise the necessity of taking preventive steps to slow the spread of theCOVID-19./.
