APPF-26: Vietnamese NA wants to tighten ties with Mexico

Hanoi (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the VietnamNational Assembly (NA) Do Ba Ty has suggested that the legislative bodies of Vietnam andMexico tighten cooperation through the exchange of visits and sharing ofexperience.
The Vice Chairman made the proposal at a reception in Hanoi on January 19 for a delegation of theMexican Parliament led by Chairman of the Mexican Senate’s Foreign AffairsCommittee for the Asia-Pacific region, Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo, who are inVietnam for the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum(APPF-26).
Ty reiterated that Vietnamese people always treasure thefriendship and solidarity that Mexican people has given for Vietnamin the past struggle for national independence and in the current nationaldevelopment.
He congratulated the guests on their nation’ssocio-economic development over the past time, adding thatthe two nations have huge room for cooperation in numerous fields, including agro-forestry-fisheryproducts processing, science - technology, health, education - training, andclimate change adaption.
Sharing the view with Ty on the need to increaseparliamentary delegation exchanges at all levels between the two nations,Senator Teofilo Torres Corzo called on the two sides to support each other atinternational organisations and multi-faceted forums.
He expressed his hope that the two nations will increasetheir investment partnership in their strong fields, contributing to fostering their friendship andcooperation.-VNA
The 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) will feature two plenary sessions on politics-security and economics-trade matters on January 19, the second working day of the event.
Political and security issues were tabled in the first plenary session of the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) in Hanoi on January 19, where delegates from member states shared views and proposed measures and initiatives to foster a greater role of the APPF in these spheres.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
