Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi Union of FriendshipOrganisations (HAUFO) in coordination with embassies of ASEAN countries in thecapital city organised an international art exchange programme to celebrate the56th founding anniversary of the bloc (August 8) and the 78th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).
In his remarks, HAUFO President Nguyen Ngoc Kystressed that regional cooperation, friendship and connectivity within the ASEANframework remains a priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy of diversification andmultilateralisation of relations.
The Vietnamese Government and people will make all-outefforts to contribute to building a more cohesive and stronger ASEAN, andpromoting cooperation and friendship between its member countries, bothbilaterally and multilaterally, he affirmed.

Present at the event, DennyAbdi, Ambassador of Indonesia – ASEAN Chair 2023, noted that ASEAN citizens areliving in a harmonious environment, adding within a decade, foreign investmentin the grouping increased by 50%, reflecting the stable political environmentin the member countries.
He described raising public awareness ofASEAN cultural identities and promoting the intra-bloc solidarity in the contextof cultural diversity as the key to building the ASEAN Community.
Songs and dances at the programme featurethe beauty of land, people and culture of the ASEAN countries, contributing to strengtheningthe solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and other members, as well asbetween Hanoi and foreign cities./.
Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi on August 28 revealed four main pillars of his country’s Chairmanship in the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related meeting slated from September 5-7.
The 43rd ASEAN Summit, scheduled to take place in early September, will discuss migrant worker issues that have been on the agenda of the 30th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council Meeting held in Jakarta on August 29, according to Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 4-7 at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.
