Some 60 art performances will be held across Hanoi between October 9and 11 to celebrate the 60 th anniversary of the capital’s LiberationDay (October 10), according to the municipal Department of Culture,Sports and Tourism.
The performances to praise the capital’svictories in the past resistance wars and socio-economic achievements inits current building process will be participated by local professionalart troupes and those from neighbouring provinces.
In addition,various public cultural activities will be held with a lion dancefestival, Hoa Binh culture day, a street show, and a Fashion showhighlighting Vietnamese traditional long dress to name but a few.
Underthis plan, on the liberation day, the city’s sky will be lit byfireworks displays that will be launched from 30 venues throughout thecapital city, including five high-range fireworks to be set off fromHoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, West Lake, Van Quan Lake and My DinhNational Stadium.
Currently, an array of activities is taking place celebrating the Liberation Day.
A month-long photograph exhibition capturing nine national relic sitesin Hanoi is underway at the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple ofLiterature), Vietnam's first university, since September 24.
It showcases nearly 100 photographs and maps of the President Ho ChiMinh relic site, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Co Loa Citadel, VanMieu–Quoc Tu Giam, Hat Mon, Hai Ba Trung and Phu Dong temples, Hoan Kiemlake–Ngoc Son temple, and Tay Dang communal house.
At the Royal Citadel Heritage site, there is a Hanoi Book Fair, whichaims to improve citizens' reading habits and focuses particularly onyoung readers.
Opened on September 26, theweek-long event saw 45 publishing houses from across the countryoccupying 112 booths with their latest publications including children'sbooks, works by Vietnamese authors and translations at discountedprices.
The book fair hosts seven bookexhibitions, each with unique themes - Hanoi's past and present, latePresident Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi and some beautifully designedpublications.
There will also be a slew ofbook-related arts-and-crafts activities, including a calligraphyperformance and a bookmark decoration event.
Donated books will be distributed to local libraries, schools, postoffices and cultural houses in poor communes in Hanoi, Truong Sa(Spratly) island district and Khanh Hoa province.-VNA
