ASEAN Family Day strengthens intra-bloc solidarity

Brussels (VNA) – The ASEAN Brussels Committee on October 7 hosted an ASEAN Family Day in Brussels to strengthen solidarity amongASEAN member nations’ embassies in Belgium.
In his opening speech, Soe Lynn Han, Ambassador ofMyanmar - the chairmanship of the ABC, underlined the important role of familiesin building and maintaining peace, stability, and sustainable development inthe region.
🀅 Family is considered a precious cornerstone of society, he said, noting that creating astrong family environment has a significant impact on the development ofindividuals and communities.
The event highlighted theimportance of building strong and happy families, he said.
Theevent featured art performances and sports competition activities, and introduceddiverse dishes imbued with the national identity of each ASEAN member country.
Activities in the framework of the event provide an opportunity for participants to share experiences and learn how to improve family relationships, as well as promote understanding and respect for each other in a diverse society.
𝕴 The event served as an occasion to promote cooperation andexchange among ASEAN member countries in improving the quality of family lifeand fostering family values. It also demonstrated ASEAN's commitment to promoting theimportance of families in society and the development of the Southeast Asianregion./.
The ASEAN Family Day 2022 has been organised in Washington D.C., drawing the participation of nearly 200 ASEAN embassy members and their families, as well as representatives from the US Department of State.
The 2023 ASEAN Family Day has been held in New York with the participation of nearly 1,000 staff members of permanent representative mission of ASEAN nations and their families as well as the ambassadors of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea to the United Nations as honorary guests.
The 2023 ASEAN Family Day has been organised in Caracas by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and the ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC) on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of ASEAN and the 28th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to ASEAN.
