A lecturer from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine has warned Thais to be more vigilant against COVID-19, saying infection rates appeare to be worsening with higher hospital admissions, deaths and severe cases.

Dr Thira Woratanarat cited figures asshowing that 1,672 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals and nine died during April 21 - 27. Of the patients, 390 suffered from severe lunginfections and 148 others had to be put on ventilators.
He noted that the rate of hospital admissions surged 66.5% from the previous week, adding that admission rates rose for seven consecutive weeks.
Compared to the previous week, the death rate increased by three times during the reviewed period whilethe number of patients with lung infections grew 33.6% and those needing to beput on ventilators up 46.5%.
