Hanoi (VNA) – An ASEAN film week will beheld from May 27 to June 1 in Hanoi and from May 28 to June 2 in Ho Chi Minhcity to celebrate the 55th founding anniversary of the Associationof Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourismannounced on May 24 that the event will start with the screening of Vietnamesefilm “Mat biec” (Dreamy Eyes) at the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi on May 27.The film won the Golden Lotus award at the 22nd Vietnam
In HCM City, the films will be shown at the CineStar complex.
The organising board has selected seven filmsfrom seven ASEAN member cinemas, including "Dreamy Eyes" of Vietnam,“Fear” of Cambodia, "Filosofi Kopi 2: Ben and Jody" (Indonesia),“Dearest Sister” (Lao), “The Journey” (Malaysia), “The Great Myanmar” (Myanmar),and “Pad Thai: The Secret Recipe” of Thailand. The Vietnamese Embassy, in coordination with the embassies of French-speaking countries in Chile, has organised the Francophone Film Week 2022 on the occasion of International Francophonie Day.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a decision on the organisation of film screenings to celebrate Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30), Labour Day (May 1), Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7), and late President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19).
As many as 17 European films are set to be introduced to local audiences during the 21st European Film Festival in Vietnam (EUFF) which will get underway in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Lam Dong province’s Da Lat resort city between May 19 and June 5.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
