Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand'sMinistry of Science and Technology has organised “ASEAN Next 2018” to encouragepartnerships in the science, technology and innovations developed between ASEANand its trade partners.
The second ASEAN Next event is being heldunder the theme “Rising STI Networking for Innovation ASEAN” and is aimed atforging scientific, technological and innovation partnerships at the ASEANlevel and with the bloc’s trade partners. It is also based on the SustainableDevelopment Goals of the United Nations.
Permanent Secretary for Science andTechnology, Dr. Soranit Silatham, explained that networks and creativeinnovations are the focal point of this year’s event and that expert speakersfrom all 10 ASEAN nations, as well as 16 speakers from South Korea, will begiving talks on 18 subjects, including water management, nuclear research, railtransport and sustainable science.
Over 320 people are expected to attend thetalks as well as join in study tours to see water management in Huay Pla LohdCommunity in Tak province and landslide management in Chiang Mai.
Results from the event will be presented tothe Cabinet for consideration and will inform next year’s event, which willtake place in November 2019. - VNA
