ASEAN Para Games: Vietnam wins five more golds

The Vietnamese team won five more gold in the morning of September 20, raising the total gold medals to 23 at the ongoing 9th ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia.

Hanoi (VNA)💖 – The Vietnamese team won five more gold in themorning of September 20, raising the total gold medals to 23 at the ongoing 9thASEAN Para Games in Malaysia.

Nguyen Hoang Minh finished in 4 minutes 41.30 seconds and bagged a gold medalin the men's T12 1,500 metre running event. This is Minh’s third gold medals inthe games, following his two first golds in the men’s 400 metre and 800 metre. Vuong Chau won a gold in the men’s F42/43 discus throwing with 605 points.
Other three gold medals went to swimmers Trinh Thi Bich Nhu in the women’s SB5100m breaststroke event, Vi Thi Hang in the women’s SB6 100 metre breaststrokeevent; and Nguyen Thanh Tung in the men’s S11 butterfly category. On the day, the Vietnamese team also brought home seven silver medals and sixbronze medals. Previously on September 19, Ambassador of Vietnam to Malaysia Le Quy Quynh and theembassy’s staff visited and presented gifts to the Vietnamese team. He expressed his admiration for the efforts and achievements the Vietnameseathletes at the games.
The Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia will do its utmost to support the Vietnameseteam during the competition in the country, Quynh said. As of September 20 morning, Indonesia topped the medal tally with 48 golds,followed by host Malaysia with 46 golds, Thailand, 25 golds, and Vietnam, 23golds. The ASEAN Para Games is a biannual multi-sport event held after every SoutheastAsian Games (SEA Games) for ASEAN athletes with physical disabilities. The ASEAN Para Games 2017, which will last until September 23, has seen theparticipation of all member countries of the Association of Southeast AsianNations (ASEAN), namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar,the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Vietnamese players vie for medals in eight events, including swimming,track-and-field, weightlifting, chess, badminton, bocce, football for thevisually-impaired and table tennis.-VNA
