Sydney (VNA) – Nearly 100 students from ASEAN member countries studying in Western Australia participated in a seminar centred on “ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR): Prospects and Challenges” held in Perth in early October.
The event, co-organised by the Consular Corps and ASEAN students’ council in Perth for the first time, aimed to strengthening collaboration of ASEAN citizens, especially ASEAN students in Western Australia, and enhancing their knowledge on the organisation’s institutions, including the AICHR.
Speaking at the seminar, Nazarudin Jaafar, Malaysia’s Consul General, appreciated the important role of ASEAN students as the future generation who will make positive contributions to ASEAN’s development.
He also stressed that the event connects ASEAN students in Australia and also provides them with a platform to share their knowledge and viewpoints.
Representatives of Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei gave presentations on the situation, prospects and challenges of the AICHR.
