Jakarta (VNA)꧅ – Vietnam, together with Japan, will enter the next round afterbeating Nepal 2-0 at the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD) in Indonesia on August 16.

By the19th minute, Vietnam had made several attacks but missed the target. Afternearly half an hour of play, Vietnam attacked from both sides, but was unableto breach Nepal’s defence. In the31st minute, Anh Duc headed the ball into the net from close quarters aftercollecting a pass from Phan Van Duc, opening the score for Vietnam. In thesecond half, it was Van Duc’s turn to score, stealing the ball from Nepal andmaking a neat kick. Vietnam was two up in the 63rd minute. Japandefeated Pakistan 4-0 in an earlier match of Group D on the same day. Vietnam will play against Japan on August 19 for the first place of Group D. InGroup B, Thailand and Bangladesh tied one all, while Uzbekistan won 6-0 overQatar. Meanwhile,in Group C, the United Arab Emirates settled a 4-1 victory over Timor Leste andChina crushed Syria 2-0.–VNA

🅷 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee.
