Bac Giang (VNA)🥂 – The northern province of Bac Giang will take more measures to ensure power supply to serve local socioeconomic development in the coming time, said Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade Tran Quang Tan.

The official said that demand for commercial electricity in the province will continue to rise, particularly for industrial zones and clusters. Therefore, the industry and trade sector is actively deploying solutions and coordinating with the Northern Power Corporation, the National Power Transmission Corporation, and local authorities to ensure power supply. The province is working closely with units of the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Group to speed up grid investment projects, especially those supplying power for the industrial zones housing high-tech enterprises such as the Van Trung, Hoa Phu, and Quang Chau industrial parks. The province’s industry and trade sector is working with local agencies and localities to continue simplifying administrative procedures, guiding investors during the project implementation process, accelerating the assessment and approval of grid projects, and promptly addressing difficulties related to planning, land use, and site clearance for those projects.
In recent years, Bac Giang has maintained high gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth to be among the best performers nationwide, with last year's GRDP pace standing at 13.85% – the fastest in Vietnam. The local economy was expanded, estimated at 207 trillion VND in 2024, securing the 12th position in Vietnam and ranking first in the northern midland and mountainous region. Bac Giang continues to be an attractive and reliable destination for domestic and international investors as it attracted over 2.14 billion USD of investment capital in 2024, ranking 10th nationwide in FDI attraction. The strong growth of industrial production proved to be a main driving force for local economic development. The province posted an average industrial production value growth rate (at current prices) of 26% for the 2021–2024 period. So far, 11 industrial parks covering more than 2,720 hectares and 55 industrial clusters with a total area of 2,327 hectares have been established in Bac Giang.
Since 2020, the commercial electricity output has increased significantly, by 12–18% yearly. In 2024, it grew by over 10%, ranking 6th among northern provinces and cities. Bac Giang views power supply as critically important to businesses' operations as well as people's life quality, and this is also a leading concern of companies when they plan to make investments. Given this, the consistent viewpoint of local authorities is that power supply must be developed in advance. From 2021 to 2024, Bac Giang implemented 137 power grid projects with a total investment of 4.14 trillion VND, including 18 110kV grid projects with an investment of 2.89 trillion VND and 119 medium and low-voltage projects worth 1.25 trillion VND. Notably, in the last months of 2024, immediately after Prime Minister approved the adjusted Master Plan for the province, the Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with relevant agencies to propose a plan on investing in local power projects.
After this plan was issued, two 220kV transformer station projects in Lang Giang and Yen Dung districts gained approval from the Chairperson of the provincial People's Committee. Currently, other transmission line and 110kV transformer station projects across the province are also being accelerated./.
