Bac Giang (VNA) 🌞– The 598th anniversary of the Xuong Giang Victory (1427-2025) festival has opened at the Xuong Giang Victory Special National Relic Site in Bac Giang city.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang city Dang Dinh Hoan said the Xuong Giang Victory Festival (the 5th-7th day of the Lunar New Year) emphasised that the festival, which falls on February 2-4 this year, has grown into a major event, attracting crowds of visitors from nearby villages and from other regions. The Xuong Giang Victory site and its festival have become symbols of the rich cultural heritage of Kinh Bac (Northern Region) - Bac Giang. In 2019, the Prime Minister recognised the historical site as a National Special Relic. In 2023, the Xuong Giang Festival was included to the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Hoan affirmed that since entering the period of renewal, the Party organisation, administration army and people of Bac Giang city have promoted solidarity and innovation to overcome challenges, achieving significant progress in various areas. Public trust in local leadership has increased, and the unity of the people has been further solidified.
Following the National Assembly's Resolution 1191, Bac Giang city expanded its boundaries by incorporating entire Yen Dung district, increasing the city's area more than fourfold and nearly doubling its population. This expansion opens up new development opportunities, positioning the city as a key political, economic, and cultural centre with strategic importance in both local and national development, ensuring national security and foreign relations. The achievements serve as a foundation for local Party organisation, administration and people to accomplish the goals set by the city Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term and successfully organise all-level Party congresses for the 2025-2030 term. Bac Giang is on its path to becoming a rapidly developing, green, smart urban area focused on its people and creating an ideal living environment. For years, Bac Giang city has organised the Xuong Giang Festival on a city-wide scale. The festival reflects the city’s rich cultural heritage and is a source of pride for the local people. It also highlights the ongoing efforts to foster renewal and development in Bac Giang. The festival provides an opportunity to introduce the people of Bac Giang and its heroic revolutionary history to visitors from near and far, showcasing the region's hospitality and cultural heritage.
Following the opening ceremony, delegates and citizens enjoyed an art performance, which recreated the heroic spirit of the Vietnamese people in their fight against foreign invaders and celebrated the nation’s economic and social achievements. Earlier, a ceremony with traditional rituals and prayers for national peace and prosperity took place at the historic site. The three-day festival featured performances of intangible cultural heritage, such as Cheo (Vietnamese traditional opera), Quan Ho (love duet), and Ca Tru (ceremonial) singing, screenings of animated films about the Xuong Giang Victory, an exhibition of historical photos, folk games, and a traditional rural market showcasing Bac Giang’s unique products./.
