Bac Giang province told to enhance self-reliance to boost development

Bac Giang (VNA) –Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Bac Giang to enhance self-reliance as ameasure for boosting development during a meeting with the Standing Board ofthis northern province’s Party Committee on June 12.

Local officials reported thatlast year, Bac Giang was among the 10 best performing localities with a GRDPgrowth rate of 7.82 percent and ranked 15th with an economy valuedat over 129.8 trillion VND (5.6 billion USD).

It saw GRDP growth of 14.33percent in the first quarter of 2022 and estimated the Q2 figure at 24.03percent - highest nationwide.

They also highlightedprogress in social, cultural, defence, security, and external affairs, alongwith the Party and political system building.

PM Chinh said with outstandingpotential, advantages, and opportunities, Bac Giang is an attractive andpromising destination for both domestic and foreign investors.

He held that to fully tapinto potential, address shortcomings, and fuel development, the province shouldstrengthen its self-reliance, step up the decentralisation of power andadministrative reform, facilitate the public - private partnership, and boosthuman resources training.

It was requested to pushahead with COVID-19 prevention and control, especially vaccination, to createthe best possible conditions for socio-economic recovery and development;continue efforts to make the three strategic breakthroughs in terms ofstrategic infrastructure, institutional building, and human resources training;and ramp up the implementation of the socio-economic recovery and developmentprogramme.

The Government leader alsodemanded focus be put on green and sustainable development, digitaltransformation and energy transition, sci-tech application to improve labourproductivity, and selective investment attraction to increase investmenteffectiveness.

He stressed the need forpromoting economic growth in tandem with protecting the environment, ensuringsocial security and welfare, and preserving cultural values.

Besides, it is also importantto pay due attention to building an incorruptible and strong Party andpolitical system, along with a lean, efficient, and effective State apparatus,according to the PM./.
