Badminton player Minh drops one place in rankings

Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh dropped one place to 18th in the world badminton rankings, the sport's governing body has announced.

Minh's total score remained 42,720.

Lee ChongWei of Malaysia is now at the top with 97,131 points, followed by ChenLong of China with 87,241 points and Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark with697,623 points.

On the women's side, Vu ThiTrang jumped four steps to 49th place after the qualifying round of the Denmark and France Open.

Accordingto the draw of the Thaihot China Open 2014, to be held on November11-16, Minh, who has previously held the world No 5 spot in therankings, will face seed No 1 Chen in the first round.-VNA
