Badminton players to compete at Vietnam Open tourney

The Yonex Sunrise – Vietnam Open 2014 will take place at Phan Dinh Phung Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City, from September 1 – 7, drawing 272 badminton players from 15 countries and territories.

The players takingpart in the event, which is in the list of the Badminton WorldFederation’s Grand Prix tournaments, include 74 Indonesian athletes, 46Vietnamese, 45 Malaysians, and 44 Taiwanese.

They will compete at five events, namely men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

HuynhNgoc Lien, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City BadmintonFederation, said Vietnam’s top player Nguyen Tien Minh this year isseeded 3 rd as he has not played at his best recently.

Meanwhile,there are high expectations for Japanese female players at this event,particularly Okuhara, who won the world junior championship in 2012.-VNA
