Beach soccer team gears up for Asian championship

Hanoi (VNA)𓆉 – Vietnam's beach soccer team under the guidance of head coach Mai Van Duc will gather in Da Nang city from February 25 to prepare for the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2025, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said on February 20.

As many as 20 players have been summoned for the training period in Da Nang. Most of them are from Da Nang Club and Khanh Hoa Club - the two teams with the best records in the national soccer tournament since inception in 2009. After the training, 12 players will be selected to attend the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2025 which will feature 16 teams divided into four groups.
Vietnam are in Group D along with Oman, Bahrain, and Malaysia. This is a challenging group for Vietnam, as Oman and Bahrain are among the top teams in Asian beach soccer, while Malaysia are also highly regarded, having reached the quarter-finals twice in four attempts.
The championship will take place from March 20-30 at the Jomtien Beach Soccer Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. Also at stake in the continental showpiece are three tickets to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025./.
