Hanoi (VNA) - “Bo Gia” (Dad, I’m Sorry), a product of TRAN THANHTOWN, has been chosen to represent Vietnam at the 2022 Oscars in the US.

The movie will represent Vietnam to compete in thepre-qualification round of the Best International Film category at next year'sOscars.

It is very difficult to win one of the five officialnominations out of 93 films submitted to this category. Moreover, 2022 is alsothe year with a record high number of films competing for the BestInternational Film.

“Dad, I’m Sorry” is the most outstanding movie of Vietnamreleased this year. The first film co-written, directed and starred by artist TranThanh has set a revenue record of more than 440 billion VND (19 million USD).

This movie recently won several titles at the Vietnam FilmFestival 2021, including the Silver Lotus Award, Best Screenplay, Lead Actor(Tuan Tran) and Supporting Actress (Ngan Chi).

Bo Gia portrays the life of an elderly xe om (motorbiketaxi) driver living in Ho Chi Minh City who faces challenges in earning money forhis wife and two teenage children./.
