Buddhists support drought victims in Ninh Thuan

Buddhists from the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City visited families affected by the recent drought in the south-central coastal province of Ninh Thuan on June 5.

Ninh Thuan (VNA) – Buddhists from the so꧃uthern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City visited families affected by the recent drought in the south-central coastal province of Ninh Thuan on Juღne 5.

They presented 154 water containers along with gift packages worth over 200 million VND (9,000 USD) to impoverished households in Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district.
Vice Chairman of Phuoc Dinh’s People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Phuong said the prolonged drought seriously affected locals over the past two years.
Thanks to benefactors, locals could afford to buy water containers during the dry season, he said. In addition to State assistance, Ninh Thuan is mobilising financial resources to build three more water supply systems, including one in Phuoc Dinh commune with total investment of nearly 99 billion VND (4.45 million USD).-VNA
