Ca Mau province works to prevent erosion, subsidence
The People’s Committee of Ca Mau province has ordered local authorities to strengthen measures to check erosion and subsidence along rivers and canals, coasts and elsewhere to safeguard people and their properties.

Ca Mau (VNA) - The People’sCommittee of Ca Mau province has ordered local authorities to strengthenmeasures to check erosion and subsidence along rivers and canals, coasts andelsewhere to safeguard people and their properties.
The Mekong Delta province hashad more than 1,600 instances of erosion and subsidence affecting more than 25kilometres of land this year, according to the provincial Department ofAgriculture and Rural Development.
Tran Van Thoi district accountedfor 1,109 cases, all of them along rural roads.
The 2019-2020 dry season cameearly and was hotter than in previous years, causing canals to dry up, one ofthe reasons for erosion and subsidence, according to the department.
Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Nguyen Tien Hai has instructed relevant departments,agencies and localities to immediately inspect areas that face a risk oferosion or subsidence and take preventive measures.
All materials, vehicles, humanresources, and funds required should be mobilised for tackling the issue duringthe upcoming rainy season, he said.
The rainy season normallybegins in May.
