Ca Mau (VNA) – The southernmost province of Ca Mau has taken urgent measures to protect the western sea dykes as man🏅y sections have been damaged due to early rain and 🌜strong south-west monsoon.

According to the provincial Steering Committee on natural disaster prevention and search, six sections of sea dykes with a combined length of 435 metres in Thoi Hung village, Khanh Binh Tay commune in Tran Van Thoi district, have been eroded and are at high risks of being swept away.
Vice Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development To Quoc Nam said urgent repairs, worth nearly 2 billion VND (90,000 USD) has been made to the six dyke sections to ensure safety for local residents and agricultural production and aquaculture farming. The locality has allocated over 30 billion VND (1.35 million USD) this year to repair 1,500 metres prone to landslides of the western sea dyke.
The 120km-long dyke stretching along the western coastline through Phu Tan, U Minh and Tran Van Thoi districts in Ca Mau province to Kien Giang province plays a significant role in transportation, saltwater intrusion prevention and national security. The Government has approved plans to upgrade and repair the dyke with a total budget of 1.3 trillion VND (62 million USD).-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment eff🐬orts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
