Chiganova Elena landed at the airport on December 30 in a flight carrying more than 280 passengers.
Cam Ranh airport was commercialized in 2003 after serving as a defenceairport. It hosted domestic flights until 2010 with an annual growth ofonly 10 percent, receiving hundred of thousands arrivals per year.
The airport saw a strong growth since 2011 after it put into use aterminal with a capacity of 1.5 million visitors per year.
Apart from domestic flights, it has currently received internationalflights from various countries, including Russia , the Republic ofKorea and a number of European countries.
InOctober this year, Khanh Hoa province was allowed to call for investmentfor the construction of the second runway at a cost of about 1.4trillion VND (65.8 million USD)./.
The first and only direct service connecting the two countries at the moment is set to operate three times per week using the modern wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
