Cave complex in Dien Bien province named national relic site

The Huoi Cang-Huoi Dap cave complex in Pa Ham commune of Muong Cha district, the northwestern province of Dien Bien, has been recognised as a national relic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Dien Bien (VNA) – The Huoi Cang-Huoi Dap cave complex in Pa Hamcommune of Muong Cha district, the northwestern province of Dien Bien, has beenrecognised as a national relic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports andTourism.

The complex is located at a height of nearly500m above the sea level on a limestone mountain area known as Pom Tham Be.Huoi Cang and Huoi Dap caves are about 450m from each other and surrounded byforest, fields and some smaller caves. 

Huoi Cang Cave has a total length of over 1kmwhile Huoi Dap Cave is 350m long. Each of them consists of three main sectionswith many small branches. Both are full of stalactites and stalagmites invarious shapes.

They are considered natural masterpieces withrich values in terms of geology, geomorphology, topography, climate, biologyand landscape.

Hoang Trong Minh, a staff member of the cultureand information division of Muong Cha district, said thanks to its location on thelimestone mountain and geological formation, this cave complex boasts uniqueecosystems like limestone, cave and aquatic ones. It contains importantscientific values with vestiges of the earth’s formation and developmenthistory.-VNA
