This is the fourth time the Ho Chi Minh Award for Literature and theArts has been held to honour writers and artists. The first time theprize was awarded was in 1996.
This year, theCouncil of State Awards selected 12 works of literature and arts for the Ho Chi Minh prize andrecognised 74 nominees for the People’s Artist title.
In addition, 128 works were presented withthe State Award for literature and the arts and 356 nominees receivedthe Meritorious artist title.
The Ho Chi MinhAward, the State Award for Literature and the Arts and the title ofPeople’s Artist and Meritorious Artist are noble prizes, recognising thewriters and artists who have made important contributions to thecountry’s cultural development.
While speaking at theceremony, President Truong Tan Sang called on artists to continueinheriting and upholding the nation’s cultural tradition in order to create works of high artistic and literary values./ VNA
At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
