Classic movie soundtracks performed live

Theorchestra, founded by members of London's world-renowned Royal OperaHouse, will play in the Toyota Classic Concert under the direction ofSpanish-born conductor Miguel Angel Navarro, with a special performanceby young Vietnamese flutist Nguyen Ly Huong.

The internationalconcert, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will blend classicalorchestra with the glamour of the silver screen. The orchestra willperform pieces from classics like Gone With the Wind, Once Upon a Timein the West and The Godfather, as well as newer films like MissionImpossible and Pirates of the Caribbean.

After 10 years playingsold-out concerts at the Opera House, the soloists of the Royal OperaHouse expanded and became the Covent Garden Soloists. Since then, thegroup has grown to include performers from other art forms and otherartistic institutions.

Pianist Pamela Nicholson and violinist Vasko Vassilev will join the show for their second year.

Huong,a prized local flutist, will play a Mozart concerto for the concert.She was the first Vietnamese flutist to win an international flutecompetition held in Nanning, China in 2013. She has also performed inThailand, Japan and Germany.

"Music by Mozart is very fine andthe piece's joyful rhythm is easy to enjoy," she said. "I try totransmit emotions to listeners when I play."

The concert has beenheld across Southeast Asia for 25 years this year visiting Singapore,Cambodia, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnambetween October 30 and November 18.

Toyota Classic has broughtworld-level classical music to Vietnamese music lovers for the past 17years. It gives local young musicians the opportunity to perform withworld-famous artists and orchestras. It has also donated nearly 2.5billion VND (112,000 USD) in proceeds to cultural and art-relatedactivities.-VNA
