Hanoi (VNA) – The festival “Clean Air – Green Hanoi”opened in the capital city on June 1, as part of the campaign “Finding CleanAir” initiated and carried out by the Live & Learn Centre from May –December 2019.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Nguyen The Hung said the festival affords Hanoi citizens a chance to seeksolutions to pollution via learn-and-play activities and discussions with environmentsolution providers.

In response to the Action Month for the Environment, Hanoiwill continue raising public awareness of air pollution mitigation, enhancinginspection and international cooperation in identifying polluting sources andseeking solutions to improve local air quality.

Director of the US Agency for International Development Michael Greene committedto help Vietnam actively deal with air pollution for sustainable development.

At the festival, visitors could learn about greentransportation solutions, renewable energy, safe consumption, buy eco-friendlyproducts, experience green living challenges, join games in recycling playingarea and enjoy music performances.-VNA

Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor s♐eawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

Vietnam ramps up plastic wa�൩�ste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
