Coastal localities brace for arrival of Storm Doksuri
Localities along the central coast are taking urgent measures to prepare for Storm Doksuri, the biggest storm to hit Vietnam in many years, which is approaching the coast of Vietnam and getting stronger by the hour.

Hanoi (VNA) – Storm Doksuri, the biggest storm to hit Vietnam in many years, is approaching the coast of Vietnam and getting stronger by the hour, according to the National Centre for Hydro-MeteorologicalForecasting (NCHMF).
Localities along the coast are taking urgent measures to prepare for thestorm, which is forecast to make landfall in the central region on lateSeptember 15 and early September 16.
Most provinces have banned vessels from going to sea since earlySeptember 14 while urging those at sea to seek safe shelter.
Ha Tinh, one of the provinces forecasted to be hit directly by Doksuri,has decided to evacuate nearly 11,000 families with more than 47,400 personsfrom coastal districts to safe areas.
Quang Binh authorities are ready to move around 20,000 household withover 76,000 residents out of dangerous areas.
Local farmers are urged to harvest ripe rice and aquatic produce tominimalise losses.
An urgent online meeting was held in the morning of September 14 onmeasures to cope with the storm. Following the meeting, Deputy Prime MinisterTrinh Dinh Dung and a working team of the government travelled to Quang Binh toinstruct anti-storm preparations.
It is forecast that from noon September 15, coastal areas in Nghe An, HaTinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri will see strong wind of up to 120km per hour,with the danger level rated at Level 4. This is the first time Vietnam hasrated the Danger Level 4 for a storm.-VNA
