Communist parties of Vietnam, Japan hold theory exchange

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) held a theory exchange, the sixth of its kind, in Quang Ninh Province on September 27.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) held a theory exchange, the sixth of its kind, in Quang Ninh Province on September 27.

On the theme of changes in the world situation, region and prospects of the two Parties, and peoples of the two countries, the two sides shared information and experience to enrich theories on socialism building of each Party.

Speaking at the conference, Politburo member and standing member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, Dinh The Huynh affirmed the CPV consistently pursues the goal of national independence and socialism and the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, while actively contributing to the common cause of peace, national independence, democracy and social progress in the world.

On the East Sea issue, Huynh affirmed that Vietnam’s consistent viewpoint is to resolve differences and disputes via peaceful measures based on respecting international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), not using or threatening to use force, fully abiding to the Declaration of Conduct of Parties on the East Sea (DOC), working for an early formation of a Code of Conduct (COC), fully respecting diplomatic and legal process, and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development, contributing to peace, stability in the region and the world.

In his report, Ogata Yasua, Head of the JCP delegation highlighted the JCP’s stance that a peaceful international order on the basis of the United Nations Charter should be upheld. He stressed lessons drawn from the world’s history in the 20th century which are fighting against hegemony, invasion, interference and oppression, and striving for a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.

On the East Sea issue and East China Sea, Ogata Yasua stressed the importance of resolving disputes by peaceful measures based on international law, not using force or threatening to use force, not intensifying tension and compounding disputes, fully implementing the DOC and soon completing the COC. He also affirmed that ASEAN’s unity and central role is a very important factor in building the regional structure and a peaceful environment in the region.
