Conference in Ha Tinh province promotes green growth

Ha Tinh (VNA) – Scientists and business managers gathered at aconference held in the central province of Ha Tinh on August 1, sharingpractical experience in promoting green growth and responding to climatechange.

At the event, organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment incollaboration with the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature andEnvironment and the local Department of Natural Resources and Environment,participants recommended possible measures to carry out the national strategyon green growth and climate change response in each locality and each sector.

Mechanisms and policies to engage local residents in green practices were onthe table while the role of social organisations in supervising theimplementation of green growth strategy was highlighted.

According to Vice Director of the provincial Department of Natural Resourcesand Environment Phan Lam Son, as green growth is the core of the province’ssustainable socio-economic development, Ha Tinh province has proactivelyresponded to climate change, promoted economic restructuring by shifting to amore effective economic growth model based on advanced technologies andhigh-quality human resources.

As a locality hard hit by natural disasters every year, local organisations andbusinesses have worked to raise public awareness of natural disasterprevention. Meanwhile, a wide range of projects have been carried out toimprove the resilience of the community to climate change-related impacts,comprising an embankment construction project in Loc Ha district, watermanagement project in Ha Tinh city, and project to plant, restore and preservemangrove forests in Nghi Xuan and Cam Xuyen districts, and Ky Anh town.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatm�✤�ent efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.

Hundreds of trees planted in Cuc ꧃Phuong National Park as part of Forestival

Renowned artists including Ha Anh Tuan, Den Vau, and Phan Manh Quynh, along with many directors and attendees, took part in planting hundreds of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun) and cho chi (Parashorea chinensis) in the Thung Bong area of the Cuc Phuong National Park, contributing to forest ecosystem restoration.
