Conservation efforts in U Minh Ha National Park stepped up

The southernmost province of Ca Mau has introduced a number of measures to conserve and promote the value of the U Minh Ha National Park.

Accordingly,the province will restructure its administrative system, and devise newmodels for residential settlement. Reforestation plans and fireprevention plans will also be implemented.

Ca Mau province hasalso improved the park’s eco-tourism services in a bid to generateincome and make the national park attractive to domestic andinternational tourists.

The cajuput forest covers a total area of75,000 hectares, with 8,000 hectares of valuable primeval forest. Theforest is a key habitat for wetland ecosystem species and others, withmany of them listed in Vietnam’s Red Book, such as the king cobra orpangolin.

The park was recognized by UNESCO as one of the three core zones of the Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve in June 2009.

Thepark not only preserves the entire ecological system of the cajuputforest, but also acts as an ecological tourism destination and aresearch site for domestic and international scientists.-VNA

Wutip storm ravages central Vietnam, leavin♓g trail of destruction

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse𒁃, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
