Vam Cong Bridge, the second bridge spanning the Hau River, a tributary of the Mekong River, will connect Lap Vo districtof Dong Thap province with Thot Not district of Can Tho city.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Dung said along with other projects suchas the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong highway, the Can Tho and RachMieu Bridges, and the Central Mekong Delta Region Connectivityproject, Vam Cong Bridge will improve the road network in theregion, contributing to regional socio-economic development in MekongDelta provinces.
The 2.9km bridge will take 48 months to construct. It will have six lanes and a maximum speed of 80km/h. It is estimated to cost 271 million USD, funded using OfficialDevelopment Assistance (ODA) from the Republic of Korea andcounterpart capital from the Vietnamese Government.
