Craft village tourism festival marks Hanoi Liberation Day

The annual Hanoi Traditional Craft Village Tourism Festival will be held at Quan Ngua Sports Palace from October 9 to 12, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.

This year’sfestival, themed “Convergence of Quintessence”, will feature 366 standsby 194 organisations, both domestic and foreign.

It will becategorised into nine main areas showcasing traditional handicraftitems, food, tourism products and folk games performance, according toTo Van Dong, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports andTourism.

A spectrum of porcelain, rattan and bamboo products,embroidery, folk paintings and wood carving crafts are to be introducedin the presence of well-known local craftsmen who will show off theirexcellent skills to visitors.

The cuisine corner will behighlighted by Hanoi’s signature food that will be accompanied by Koreandishes featured at 15 food stalls.

During the event, travel agencies will offer special deals for visitors in order to boost domestic travel demands.

The festival is part of the authorities’ effort to preserve anddevelop traditional craft villages in Hanoi as well as promote theirimage for tourism purposes.

Hanoi has so far had over 1,200handicraft villages and tens of thousands of craft-making households,which had made sizable contributions to the city’s economicdevelopment.-VNA
