Cuban President of State Council to visit Vietnam in November

Havana (VNA) – President of the Council of Stateand Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez will pay an officialvisit to Vietnam from November 8-11, DirectorGeneral of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs EmilioLozada told a special press conference on October 29.

During the stay, the Cuban leader will meet bilaterally withGeneral Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee andPresident Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and join other activities.

One of the highlights in the agenda will be a new tradeagreement between the two countries, which is expected to lift two-way trade,he said.

Vietnam is now the second largest trade partner of Cuba inAsia and the Oceania.

During the foreign trip from November 1-12, Miguel DiazCanel Bermudez will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, PrimeMinister Dmitry Medvedev, and leaders of theState Duma and Council of Federation.

In the Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea, the Cuban leader will meet Supreme Leader KimJong-un, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly KimYong-nam and other high-ranking State leaders.

While in China from November6-8, he will meet President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqang and leaders of theNational People’s Congress, and attend the China International Import Expo inShanghai. 

On the occasion, both sideswill sign agreements on technology, renewable energy and tourism.

In Laos, the Cuban leader willmeet Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Volachith, Prime MinisterThongloun Sisoulith, President of the National Assembly Pany Yathotou.

As part of his first officialvisit to Laos, the two sides will sign cooperation agreements on banking andtrade.-VNA
