HCM City (VNA) – The “Cycling for the Future” event in Ho Chi Minh City has helped promote cycling for a healthier urban environment while promoting sustainability and global connections.

Hosted by the Dutch Consulate General in coordination with the Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association and the Dutch Business Association in Vietnam, the February 16 event welcomed two Dutch cyclists who traveled nearly 20,000 kilometers across 24 countries to Vietnam.

Rick Keijzer (21) and Sven Broekhuizen (25) set off from the Netherlands on March 10, 2024, pushing their limits while raising funds for Coop Africa, a charity that provides bicycles to communities in Kenya and Uganda, improving access to education, health care, and livelihoods.

Beyond a welcoming for the two cyclists, “Cycling for the Future” served as a call for a more sustainable HCM City.

Bicycles are increasingly recognised as an eco-friendly mode of transport that helps ease traffic congestion, improve air quality, and enhance public health./.
