Dak Lak (VNA) – More than 2,000 households in the C𒀰entral Highlands province of Dak Lak are facing a severe shortage of water due to the prolonge꧙d drought.
According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Buon Don district is suffering from the worst water shortage, especially in Tan Hoa, Ewen, Ea Nuoi and Krong Na districts with nearly 1,000 households affected.
Locals have to travel long distances to fetch or buy water with cut-throat prices, the department said.
Duong Van Xanh, Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee, said Buon Don plans to drill seven groundwater wells at communes hardest hit by the drought, while raising public awareness of using water resources economically.
The water shortage has also affected the daily lives and production of more than 400 households in remote and far-flung communes of Cu M’ga district such as Ea Kueh and Quang Hiep.
To deal with the problem, Dak Lak has instructed localities to use water economically, upgrade water supply facilities at residential areas and bring water to remote and far-flung villages.-VNA
