Defence Minister receives ASEAN Secretary-General in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of National Defence Gen.Ngo Xuan Lich met with ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi in Hanoi onFebruary 19 within the framework of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ MeetingRetreat (ADMM Retreat).
Welcoming the Secretary-General to the event,Minister Lich said Vietnam hopes to receive assistance from the ASEANSecretariat in building meetings’ agenda, consulting on initiatives, andtraining staff for conferences.
The country also looks forwards to theSecretariat’s support before, during and after meetings of the ADMM and ADMMPlus mechanisms that Vietnam will host, he added.
Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi affirmed that inhis position, he will actively help Vietnam during its ASEAN chairmanship thisyear, thereby helping to build a strong ASEAN Community and enhance the bloc’ssubstantive cooperation in all fields for the sake of peace and security in theregion and the world./.
