Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen.Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception for heads of Vietnamese representativeoffices abroad in Hanoi on October 18.
Chien congratulated the officials on being appointed to such positions for the2021-2024 term, and stressed that defence external affairs forms an importantpart of the Party and the State’s external work as well as people-to-peoplediplomacy.
The Central Military Commission and the Defence Ministry highly valued theattention and close coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ininternational integration and defence external affairs over the past time,contributing to implementing the defence external work comprehensively, hesaid.
The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that the chief representatives willfulfil their assigned tasks outstandingly, helping to enhance diplomatic tiesbetween Vietnam and countries and international organisations, and promotecollaboration in military and national defence./.

The new perceptions and mindset about Vietnam’s national defence were presented by Sen. Lt. Gen. Phan Van Giang, member of Politburo, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Deputy Minister of National Defence, at a teleconference on March 28.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
