Hanoi (VNA) – Petty corruption has eroded trust ofthe people, businesses and investors, hindering socio-economic development,permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh admitted at a nationalteleconference in Hanoi on June 27.
The event aimed to popularise the PM’s DirectiveNo.10/CT-TTg on preventing red tape against businesses and people.
Deputy Inspector General Tran Ngoc Liem said heads ofseveral agencies have yet to set good example and impose strict penalties onviolations.
Head of the National Assembly’s Ombudsman Committee NguyenThanh Hai suggested alternating positions to prevent the problem and usingmodern technology to watch against corruption behaviours.
The Government Inspectorate should launch a hotline at unitsto acquire public feedback, he said.
Binh affirmed that the Government always maintains a strongpolitical determination to fight and drive back corruption, towards building acontingent of officials, civil cadres and public employees with discipline andintegrity, improving business environment and national competitiveness, andachieving sustainable development goals.
He called for respect to the Directive at all levels incombination with the enforcement of the Law on Corruption Prevention andControl, and directions by the Party General Secretary cum head of the CentralSteering Committee on Corruption Prevention and Control.
Heads of ministries, agencies and localities must considerthe fight against corruption, including petty corruption, a regular, continuousand long-term political task, he said.
The Deputy PM also took the occasion to call on the businesscommunity and people to join hands with the Government, the PM, departments andagencies in the effort.-VNA
