Documentary films on biodiversity, animal welfare screened in Hanoi
The Goethe-Institut, in collaboration with the Centre for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD) and FOUR PAWS Viet/Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh, on September 21 hosted a screening of two documentaries on biodiversity conservation and animal welfare in Hanoi as part of the project ECO FILM Production 2021-2022.

Hanoi (VNA) -🍎 The Goethe-Institut, incollaboration with the Centre for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD) andFOUR PAWS Viet/Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh, on September 21 hosted a screening of twodocumentaries on biodiversity conservation and animal welfare in Hanoi as partof the project ECO FILM Production 2021-2022.
The two films - "Binh Yen, come home!" and “Roadto Xuan Lien” – are the result of cooperation between CCD, FOUR PAWS Viet, and Vietnamesefilmmakers.
"Binh Yen, come home!" vividly recreates the livesof bears and their caretakers at the Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh. These are thefootage that authentically reflects the pain of bears who have been victims of bilefarming, their recovery at the conservation facility, and the thoughts of theircaretakers.
Meanwhile, "Road to Xuan Lien" shows the value ofnature and follows the joint efforts to harmonise conservation and developmentand connect people with nature in Xuan Lien, Thuong Xuan district, Thanh Hoaprovince. Boasting a dense biodiversity, the area is also significant to thelife and cultural identity of the Thai ethnic community in the west of ThanhHoa.
Wilfried Eckstein, Director of the Goethe-Institut, said the ECOFILM Production project is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut to fostercollaboration between civil society organisations in Vietnam and documentaryfilmmakers in telling stories of sustainable development through documentaries.
The screening also featured a conversation with theproject-involved organisations and filmmakers as well as a behind-the-scenes displayto give the interested public a better overview of the stories and theirmessages./.
