Hanoi (VNA) – Chau Thanh Longan Co-operative has provided exporters with 100 tonnes of Edor longan for shipment to the US.
Edor longan, with seeds imported from Thailand, provides farmers with greater economic efficiency than other varieties due to its significantly high yield.
This is good news for farmers in southern Dong Thap province as the US is a demanding potential market with strict requirements for food hygiene and safety, the Voice of Vietnam reported.
After applying VietGap production standards, Chau Thanh longan overcame the strict barriers to enter this demanding market.

The harvest of longan approved for the country's first export consignment to the United States in Hanoi and the northern province of Hung Yen will finish in the next ten days.
