Endangered monkey sent to Cuc Phuong national park

The one-year-old monkey,weighing roughly one kilogramme, was found in a forest between QuangNgai and the neighbouring province of Kon Tum by a local from Ba Todistrict.

He then handed over the monkey to forest protection authorities on July 2.

The grey-shanked douc (Pygathrix cinerea) is native to the centralprovinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh and the CentralHighlands provinces of Kon Tum and Gia Lai.

It is listed in Vietnam’s Red Book of threatened and endangered species.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s PrimateSpecialist Group rates the grey-shanked douc as one of the world’s 25most endangered monkeys.-VNA

Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensiܫng to monitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts😼

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
