DakLak (VNA) – Central Highlands localities have provided nearly 4,500poor ethnic minority households with land for production since 2013.
Theregion has also assisted 2,000 more families with land for housing, accordingto the steering committee for the Central Highlands.
DakLak leads with more than 1,000 households provided with farmland.
Localprovinces have also changed jobs and provided vocational training for over15,000 households, while supplying fresh water for over 57,000 households andbuilt 230 water supply facilities in underprivileged areas.
Thecommittee said the Prime Minister’s Decision 755/QD-TTg is a special policywhich aims to provide land for housing and farming for poor ethnic minoritygroups.
Itproposed the Government direct ministries and agencies to arrange funds toimplement the policy for development in ethnic minority and mountainous areasin 2017-2020.
Meanwhile,the southern province of Dong Nai has provided over 65,000 health insurancecards worth more than 15.8 billion VND (over 700,000 USD) for ethnic minoritypeople in 63 disadvantaged communes.
Localauthorities are carrying out a project to support artists who contributed topreserving traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
DongNai is home to 189,089 ethnic minority people, making up seven percent of theprovincial population.
Lastyear, the locality reported over 1,900 ethnic minority households were livingunder the poverty line, 14.13 percent of total poor households./.
