Hanoi (VNA) ♔– The 4th International Conference Promoting Vietnamese Literature and the 3rd International Poetry Festival wrapped up in Hanoi onFebruary 20.

Poet Huu Thinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Union ofLiterature and Arts Associations and the Vietnam Writers’ Association, saidworkshops and discussions during the events created chances for participants toshare their views on the necessity to seek more solutions to introducingoutstanding works of the country to the world.

They also pointed to problems that need to beaddressed, including the language difference and the modest updating ofinternational friends on Vietnam’s literature development.

He thanked foreign guests for contributing tothe success of the international conference and festival, noting that theseevents sent a message about the aspiration for a world of peace, amity,cooperation and friendship to the people around the world.

The two events coincided with the 17th VietnamPoetry Day that took place in Hanoi and Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces fromFebruary 16 to 21.

At the closing ceremony, the organising boardpresented insignias to 30 Vietnamese and foreign writers, poets and translatorswith major contributions to the development of Vietnam’s literature andpoetry.-VNA

👍 Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
