The group will increase the utilisation of hydropower reservoirs in the basin of the Red River and Dong Nai River as well as coal- and gas-fired thermal power plants in the central and southern regions.
Flood season in the north and central region this month could affect electricity generation, transmission and distribution. Betweeen January-June, the EVN coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Water Resource Directorate and localities to operate hydropower reservoirs to ensure water for agricultural production and drive back saltwater in the Central Highlands and central regions, which have been affected by serious and prolonged drought.
EVN produced and bought 84.75 billion kWh of electricity in the period, a year-on-year rise of 10.75 percent. As much as 28.3 percent of electricity came from hydropower plants, 29.36 percent from gas-fired turbine plants, and 39.87 percent from coal-fired thermal power plants.
